Westwood II Ward Activity

On Saturday, June 28th, the sisters in the Westwood II Ward baked goodies, put together floral arrangements, & wrote notes to members of the Westwood II Ward who live alone.  The beautiful arrangements & delicious food was delivered to 10 lucky people.  The visits were warm and welcomed - everyone benefitted from sharing the spirit of fellowship.

Jackie Robinson's Baptism

At the end of the "Ten Virgin" performance on Saturday night, Jackie Robinson testified that she strongly felt the spirit.  She started to attend church at the Adams Ward and continued receiving missionary discussions.  On Sunday, June 29th, Jackie was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  As you can see from the picture below, she was beaming!  She will be confirmed a member of the church next Sunday.

"Ten Virgins"

On May 17th & 18th, a spiritual feast was enjoyed by the members of the Los Angeles Stake.  The cast of the "Ten Virgins" shared their message of spiritual preparation through song.  All in attendance were reminded that challenges, burdens & decisions are faced and made every day, but each person must fill their "lamps" with "oil" so they are prepared to meet the "bridegroom," our Savior.

Los Angeles 6th Ward Visiting Teaching Conference

Los Angeles 6th Ward Relief Society invited all Visiting Teachers to be spiritually uplifted with messages of the importance of visiting teaching.  Sister Bojorquez, Visiting Teaching Coordinator, spoke about the purpose of visiting teaching and how it enriches the lives of those sisters who are visited.  Sister Olazava, President, compared visiting teaching with a First Aid kit.  She had several items in a first aid kit which represented "tools" we use in our visiting teaching assignments:
-a Lock represented how important it is to keep confidences.
-Soap represented how important it is to keep ourselves, as visiting teachers, clean to invite the spirit to           guide us.
-a Band Aid represented covering wounds.  As visiting teachers, we may need to help heal wounds.
-Tooth Paste & Tooth Brush - by keeping our mouths clean we are more willing to smile & bring joy          to those we serve.
       - Elastic Band - We need to adjust our message to meet the needs of our sisters.
-Q-Tip - We need to keep our ears clean so we can listen to the Holy Spirit & to the sisters we serve.
-Cotton Balls - We need to be tender & kind especially when sisters are facing trials/challenges.

Several Visiting Teachers were presented with flowers and certificates for faithfully doing their visiting teaching and reporting their visits timely.  A lovely dinner followed.

Wilshire Ward RS Birthday Brunch

The Wilshire Ward Relief Society celebrated the Relief Society's birthday with a lovely Saturday morning brunch at the stake center.

Sisters shared messages on the purpose of Relief Society, its history and their own pioneer ancestors, who were members of the organization.  Several sisters read aloud about the many sacrifices Latter-day Saint women have made to prepare temples and attend them. Stories started with the original Relief Society group that labored in their poverty to prepare the Nauvoo Temple and continued with women from all over the world at different times who likewise willingly contributed to temple construction or temple attendance.
