Westwood 2nd ward celebrates the RS birthday

The Westwood 2nd ward celebrated the RS birthday with cake......lots of cake!

Valecia Sarmento and Anna Rolapp (below) did short presentations on the history of the Relief Society from Daughters in my Kingdom and provided more personal details about the Relief Society's first president, Emma Smith.  Sisters acted out parts of one of the first meetings, volunteering ideas about how they could help with the work of building the temple. Some offered to sew, others to provide food, others to obtain material and thread for those sewing, and some their time for whatever was needed.  It was great to realize that these early Relief Society sisters contributed based on their individual talents and circumstances.  Their variety of skill and experience was important---just as it is today!

The Westwood 2nd ward ladies also enjoyed lots of time to chat and enjoy each other's company.  Many brought "favorite things" to share about their interests displayed on a table.  Items franged from quilts, pictures, and food, to a live turtle.
